        Basic rules to see if you have glaucoma

• Instill the drops into the eye by prescription, respecting the number of drops and their distribution over 24 hours.
• When traveling, have a reserve of sufficient drugs. Ask your doctor for an extra prescription if necessary. Treatment should be followed at all times, usually for life.
• Please check your eye pressure regularly to ensure its effectiveness.
• If you see another doctor, family physician, for example, inform them of your treatment.
• Do not take other drops without the consent of your doctor.
• Glaucoma can be hereditary. Encourage your parents to take control.

Glaucoma - an insidious disease

        You do not feel any pain, you have no visual disturbance. And yet you may be suffering from glaucoma. This serious disease of vision is usually accompanied by too high ocular pressure, resulting in effect a slow destruction of the optic nerve wich can lead to total loss of sight. The causes of glaucoma often remain unknown, but a number of risk factors were identified: age, heredity, myopia, history of traumatic ocular hypertension. There are two types of glaucoma. The open angle glaucoma represents 90% of cases of glaucoma. It does not involve any pain or special sign. It is impossible to know if you suffer from glaucoma. Only an examination by an ophthalmologist can detect an incipient form of this disease and to act when there is still time.
